Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the way universities work, learn, and discover. At UNT System, AI services are a vital part of both our research enterprise and our day-to-day operations. By harnessing the power of AI, we are pushing the boundaries of innovation while streamlining the business of higher education.
The UNT System is dedicated to providing GenAI tools while maintaining privacy, security, compliance standards and best practices. The following section outlines the in progress GenAI tools and agents that were developed for the campus community. The intended use cases of each tool are highlighted while providing a clear overview of how they support innovation and productivity within the campus community.
The Admissions Assistant AI agent will leverage detailed set of instructions and a static set of documents (policies, procedures, best practices, and guidance) to guide students through a successful application process, enabling students to ask questions and receive natural language responses based on the documents provided to the agent.
The Academic Advisor AI agent will leverage a detailed set of instructions which will request certain information to first be provided by the student, and a static set of documents (course descriptions, degree requirements, and scheduling details) to guide students through the course selection and scheduling process, enabling students to ask questions and receive natural language responses based on the documents provided to the agent.
The Records Retention Policy Assistant will be designed to help users understand and navigate data retention policies. It will provide clear guidance on how long different types of data should be kept, how they should be stored, and when they should be deleted according to official policy. This tool supports compliance and data management efforts by making complex retention rules more accessible to the campus community.
The following tools and AI agents are currently undergoing active development with plans to make them available in the near future.
The HR Policy Assistant AI agent will be designed to help users quickly find and understand human resources policies. By asking questions in everyday language, users will be able to get clear, accurate answers based on official HR documents. This tool will simplify the navigation of policies for employees and managers and make it easier to get the information they need without having to search through lengthy manuals.
The IT Policy Assistant AI agent will be designed to help the campus community easily access and understand IT-related policies. By allowing users to ask questions in plain language, the assistant will provide clear, accurate responses based on official IT guidelines and documentation. It will streamline the process of finding information about security, data usage, software, and other IT topics, making it easier for the campus community to stay informed and compliant.
